It’s the week of Christmas!
We’ve been on the road the past few months in warmer locations, and just made it back to our property in Salida, Colorado. I can hardly believe 2020 is coming to a close, but I must say, I’m ready for it. I’ve realized however, I’m not ready for winter in the Rockies.
Thankfully, I made it back to Salida before any big winter storm. Being at 8500 feet elevation, we know we need to prepare for some snow.
It’s just the kids and me here while Mars is gone for work until Christmas Eve, and Mars told me I’d have to go get this snowblower and put it together myself. I’m pretty good at handy things, but I was honestly dreading unboxing and figuring this thing out.
We also are trying to distance ourselves socially before going to see my parents for Christmas day. I can’t tell you how overjoyed I was that Ace Hardware offers FREE at home delivery and curbside pickup, AND this sweet guy brought out and loaded the new Ego snow blower FULLY PUT TOGETHER into our van for us.
Now, let me tell you about this DOPE snow blower.
The main types of snow blowers fall into two categories-single-stage and two-stage snow blowers.
With a single-stage snow blower, the auger (the corkscrew-shaped component responsible for sucking up the snow) cuts into the snow, gathers it up and blows it out the discharge shoot. It does everything in one-stage, hence the name.
With a two-stage snow blower, the auger is solely the snow gatherer, and another part of the snow blower, the “impeller” is responsible for discharging the snow. This allows you to blow the snow a greater distance.
The snow blower we have, is the Ego Power+. It is a single-stage ELECTRIC snow blower as powerful as gas. It combines two ARC lithium batteries for the power to clear wet, heavy snow.
Being able to charge up a couple of batteries and simply push a button to get this guy going was a HUGE selling point.
It also has a 35-foot throwing distance and a 21-inch clearing width. Usually, you’d have to go with a two-stage, gas snow blower to get this kind of power.
It easily folds up for super compact storage, which is something we HAVE to have when living tiny. Not to mention, Everly can push it around. So, I foresee a little winter helper in the future.
We are now ready to take on 2021 and any storm it brings…any snow storm at least.
